Prysmian: BU Multimedia Solutions adds three new cables to Cat.6A U/UTP product family
Cologne, 10 September 2024 – Prysmian’s BU Multimedia Solutions (MMS) announced the expansion of its product lineup with the introduction of three new, cutting-edge U/UTP installation cables: the Draka UC500 23 Cat.6A E2 LSHF Dca, the UC500 S23 Cat.6A E2 LSHF B2ca and the UC500 23 Cat.6A E2 LSHF Cca. These new U/UTP cables are designed to meet the growing demand for reliable, high-speed data transmission and superior fire safety in various applications, from primary and secondary networks to tertiary installations.
All three cables include E2 (Encapsulated barrier technology) with geometric tape wrapping of two pairs each, featuring a completely enclosed Alien Cross-Talk barrier. MMS has completed the Cat.6A U/UTP E2 product family to include all Construction Product Regulation (CPR) classes. The classifications B2ca, Cca and Dca help determine how suitable a particular cable is for use in different types of buildings and applications based on their fire safety requirements. It offers superior fire resistance, low smoke emission and minimal production of acidic gases, making it a safer option for use in public and commercial buildings.

The Draka UC500 23 U/UTP Cat.6A E2 LSHF B2ca cable provides robust and reliable performance across various network environments. This high-quality cable supports multiple Ethernet standards, from 10Base-T to 10GBase-T, ensuring seamless data transmission at speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. Additionally, the cable is fully compliant with Power over Ethernet (PoE) standards, types 1 through 4, providing reliable power and data transmission over a single cable, which is crucial for modern network devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points. This is a cost-effective and practical choice for projects where regulatory requirements and budget considerations intersect while still delivering the quality and reliability of the UC500 product line.
